My IELTS came back 6.0. Is Manchester still realistic?

Counselor

Your grades fit Manchester well — English is the gap. Most of its programmes ask for 6.5 overall.

You said you’re applying in January, so there’s time for one retake. I’d book it now and keep Manchester on your list.

Plan a list that fits you.

Big names and small, affordable universities the rankings skip — sorted by how your numbers compare with the students they usually admit.

Likely
You’re above what they usually admit. Not a promise, but a strong spot.
Target
You look like their typical admitted student. Could go either way.
Reach
Below their usual range, or so selective it’s a reach for everyone. Worth a shot — just not only these.

A good list has some of each. Try yours with rough numbers.

Want a say in what Premium and Mentorship become? dev@racoonwise.com

Questions, answered plainly.

Is Racoonwise free?
Yes, to start. The free plan covers your profile, likely / target / reach recommendations and a limited number of counselor messages. Premium and Mentorship are coming later and don’t have prices yet.
How accurate are likely, target and reach?
They’re a guide, not a promise. We compare your numbers with what each university usually asks for and admits, and we show you the reason. No tool knows a university’s decision ahead of time — essays, activities and timing matter too.
Which universities are included?
Universities around the world, not only the top of the rankings — including smaller and more affordable options. Figures like tuition and deadlines change, so we show when they were last updated and link to the official site to double-check.
I don’t have an SAT or IELTS score yet. Can I still use it?
Yes. Leave them blank and add them when you get results — your list updates. Many universities don’t require the SAT; most English-taught programmes do ask for an English test, and we’ll show you which.
I’m a parent. Is this for me too?
It’s built for the student, but it’s a good place to look together: the list, the rough costs and the deadlines sit in one place instead of across a dozen websites.
What happens to my data?
